Shortly before Christmas 2012, THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU GMBH was awarded the contract, following an extensive tendering process, for the renewal of the hoisting system at the “Fürstenhall” shaft of the “Siegfried-Giesen” reserve mine. The existing system from the 1960s, with a speed of approximately 0.4 m/s, was to be converted into a system for a cage carrying up to 30 people at 4 m/s, or alternatively for loads of up to 13 t at 1 m/s. After one year of construction, the system was handed over to the client ready for operation.
