For Associated Mining Construction (AMC) UK Ltd., THYSSEN SCHACHTBAU carried out a demanding vertical central shaft axis drilling in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, from March 2017 to April 2018. The objective was the precise exploration of a polyhalite deposit as well as the assessment of geological and hydrogeological parameters. Extensive geotechnical and geomechanical investigations were conducted. The core drilling reached a depth of 1,640 m, including a deviated section with an offset of 26 m. Despite challenging geological conditions, a core recovery rate of 97.6% was achieved— demonstrating the highest drilling quality and project discipline.
